Some children experience the world differently. They may be overwhelmed by sound, clothing texture, movement, or busy rooms, while others constantly seek movement or deep pressure. Therapy may address sensitivity to sound, clothing, food texture or touch; sensory seeking; difficulty with transitions; emotional regulation; attention and participation; body awareness; and motor planning. Our goal is not to change who your child is, but to help them understand their own sensory needs and build strategies that support everyday life.

Fine motor skills are essential for school, self-care, and play. We help children improve pencil grasp, coloring and drawing, cutting with scissors, hand strength, bilateral coordination, in-hand manipulation, dexterity, and managing buttons, zippers, and fasteners.

Handwriting is more than forming letters. We evaluate and address letter formation, letter sizing, spacing, baseline alignment, pencil grasp, writing speed, visual-motor integration, postural control, and the underlying motor skills that make writing possible. Our goal is legible, efficient handwriting and the classroom confidence that comes with it.

Big feelings can make everyday routines challenging. We help children recognize their body’s signals and build calming strategies, coping skills, flexible thinking, frustration tolerance, transition strategies, and self-advocacy. Therapy emphasizes co-regulation first, since a child borrows an adult’s calm before they can generate their own.

Mealtime difficulty is rarely about being fussy. Limited diets, texture aversion, gagging, and mealtime distress usually have sensory, motor, or postural roots. We assess what is actually driving the difficulty and expand tolerance gradually, without pressure and without turning dinner into a battleground.

Every therapy journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation. We discuss your concerns and goals, review your child’s developmental history, and assess primitive reflexes, fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, strength, coordination, attention, and daily living skills. Following the evaluation you’ll receive a detailed written report with an individualized treatment plan, personalized recommendations, and measurable goals.
-
Retained primitive reflexes can interfere with posture, coordination, balance, handwriting, attention, and motor development. Our evaluation looks for retained reflexes such as Moro, ATNR, STNR, TLR, and Spinal Galant. When appropriate, therapy incorporates movement-based activities designed to support functional motor development while improving participation in everyday tasks.
-
Occupational therapy helps children become more independent in everyday routines. We may address dressing, toileting, grooming, feeding, school routines, morning and bedtime routines, organization, and independence with age-appropriate responsibilities. Our goal is to help children participate more confidently in the routines that matter most.
